About Glenda Raye

Glenda Raye was born and raised in San Antonio, Texas. She knew at 8 years old, watching Ethel Merman sing "There's No Business Like Show Business", that she too, wanted to be a singer. Glenda sang her first solo, "Just A Closer Walk With Thee", at the age of 10 in her home church, Woodlawn United Methodist. Living in San Antonio, it was natural for Glenda to begin a career in Country Music.

Had she been born in Louisiana, she probably would be singing the blues. Had she been born in New York, her goal might have been to sing on Broadway. Glenda can sing it all! Hear her versatile style on her latest album "Songs For The Soul". In the 1960's, Glenda recorded for Starday Records out of Nashville, and appeared on stage with country greats Jim Reeves, Roger Miller, Dottie West, Porter Wagner, and many more.

In the 70's and 80's she fronted her own Country & Western Swing Band with her husband, Bobby Hill. The 1990's brought new opportunities for her as she exchanged a career in Country Music for a calling in Christian Country Music. She truly went back to her roots. She found herself singing "Just A Closer Walk With Thee" once again, which is featured on her first gospel album, "Heavenly Reunion".

Glenda served on staff at University United Methodist Church in San Antonio as the Director of Children's Ministry, the now relocated church of her childhood. God has a way of making things go full circle. After retiring from full time church work, Glenda joined up with her daughter, Jana Fox and WitnesSing Ministries. Together, they have recorded 5 album projects.

Glenda and Jana, who also served the church in a full time capacity, share the message of Jesus Christ with others through witness and song. Combining their local church experience with their love for music and hearts for evangelism, they are able to capture their audience and draw them into exciting and inspirational worship.
